Looking for Mother/Grandmother.
Worked as a nurse at Whakatane Hospital.
Had a son born in 1965 that was taken by whanaunga in Ruatoki. Before his whangai'd mother passed away she said to him to try to find his birth Mother. A photograph of Winifred (birth mother) shows her as a tall, solid built person with a dark complexion.
It is said that her fathers name is Dan Heke an is also said that he was a wrestler and worked on the Te Mahoe Dam near Whakatane.
The whangai mum came from Punaruku Valley not far from Kaeo, there could have been a relationship? (There has been a search in this area but no luck.) Spoke with a kaumatua from Kaitaia who said that he had a daughter named Winifred Heke but when I asked if she worked as a Nurse, this Winifred didn't. We did not follow this any further. This is the only known information we have gathered over the last 10 years. The 3 grandchildren are looking for there whakapapa. Please help with any further research....
