Please help, this is my great grand father, he died on the Whanganui river in 1940 when the cattle boat(Ohura) he was working on sank, at the time he was married to Maria Pura Herewini they had 13 children.
koro was also nown as: Moera Te Whetu Oterangi Ropata and Nan as: Maria Tupaka Herewini

Maria re-married Bill Katene and had a son Henry they lived in Putiki

if anyone has any information please help

Had Jerry Heremia Taputoro an others.. Mariah (Taputoro) Rangitawa is a sister..

Jerry had Gerald Heremia Taputoro
Who lives in Whanganui.

In my family the Herewini line orginates from Te Kuiti is that the same line maybe. Te Aroha

Herewini from the Whanganui Awa, coming down from Parinui, when I get some time I have a look at some whakapapa I have, my mother's whanau. Off to a hui.
