would you happen to know if your uncle Alan[Tuta] Rutene is connected to the Ruawai /Green/Kapene whanau from Rangiahua,Wairoa. My Kuia, Ripeka Ruawai married a Rutene[m][appatrently] and had Pupu Rutene ? [m./f] and Te Arahi Rutene[f]
This has been my Ruawai missing link for a while now.
There are Rutene's in Wairarapa, as well as Taitapunui, but I do not know the Taitapunui whanau personally.
Hi there. My mother inlaw was a Taitapanui (Wini)married to Tom Wharerimu. They adopted out a son, (Alan) now Rutene. She had a brother named (Bullie)and Joey, and Skip (not sure what his real name was) sisters are Mary, Peggy, Rita, Cinda. My brother inlaw (Willie) caught up with Alan in Gisbourn last year. We have a Taitapanui Whakapapa if you'd like to e-mail me.
