I am Warner youngest son of Hemi and Priscilla Te Oriki. I am looking for information on my dads parents. I know they lived in Raupunga. I am trying to find out thier marae, iwi, hapu etc for my pepeha/whakapapa, any help appreciated. Thanks Warner.

Kia ora Warner,

I noticed your dad has land shares, so I have requested from Maori Land Court succession papers for who your dad received his land shares from, will either be your papa or your nanny or both.
Usually the succession papers give you an idea of who your dad’s whanau are but not the marae or haapu.

Dad’s land shares. If dad is not with us any longer then you and your whanau need to succeed to his land shares, but will deal with that another time! http://www.maorilandonline.govt.nz/mlol/searchresults.jsp?firstName=hemi&lastName=te+oriki&submitOwner=Search&trustName=&blockName=&district=

Click on the site below, there’s a lot of reading here, so I thought I’d leave it up to you. Enjoy. Hope you find some connections. Enjoy.

Let me know how you get on?

Will get back to you when (and if) I received information from Maori Land Court. A lot of times MLCourt is just not on too it and that annoys me?

Hopefully someone comes across your posting and is able to help you further.

Kia ora Warner,

Did you see this one? Kim Te Oriki, old friends, could be a cousin. If she is, then she might be able to help you with your whakapapa? Saw your name there too so guessing you have seen it, but just in case you missed it?

Kia ora Warner,

Here is where your dad's land shares are mainly from, Poukawa, south east of Hastings. This usually indicates where your TURANGAWAEWAE (home of your tupuna or at least one of your tupuna) are from.

To get a better idea of where Poukawa is you will need to click on the stars to the left of the map. The stars allow you to either, zoom in or out of the map, so have a play-a-round.

Sorry, am unable to inform you as to what marae your dad belongs too or his haapu. Hopefully someone viewing your posting may be able to help.

Ano Warner,

This is Ruaohinetu 12, dad's other land block, closer to Raupunga than the other 4.

Kia ora Warner,

Sorry for inundating you with all this reading, but what's that old saying 'ask and ye shall receive'.

It has a name of Hiria Te Oriki, now if this is your fathers sister then this could be your 'TURANGAWAEWAE'.

Sorry for taking so long to reply, i'm not a computer fan so I only turn it on a couple of times a week. I will have to start making more frequent visits. Thanks for all the info so far, I have just browsed through it and will go back and search through it thoroughly. Thanks for all your help. Will keep you informed with my progress.
Kia ora Warner.
