http://www.ngaiterangi.org.nz/ is the link for the Ngaiterangi website. Here you will be able to find out about about the Ngaiterangi history and protocols.

You could also email them to ask about your father and his whanau, as most Iwi organisations have a fair idea of who is who, else they can put you onto the Whanau member for the whanau you are looking for to awhi you.

Good Luck!

Tena koe,

I grew up in Katikati for most of my childhood life. I am also a Walters. My grandfather migrated to Katikati from Herekino in the 1930's. However, the name Duke Walters does not ring a bell to me. Our original name is Te Waahi, however this was changed to Walters during the early settlement years. Hope this helps you. Good Luck

Kia ora. My grand uncle lived in Katikati with his whanau for many years and was buried in Matapihi beside his wife. One of his son's was Bunny Walters- singer. If anything, you may like to try making contact with Te Runanga o Ngai Tamawhariua in Katikati.,they may probably know who you are referring to. My GM was a Walters and GF was a Murray, from Whangape in the North.Good Luck.

Tena koe Gemini23. My whaea was Naisie Murray - Parents Hemoata (Walters) (sister to Uncle Tipi) and Luke Murray. Likewise, the name DUKE is not familiar to me.
