WARA/WARAKI PARA/ TE HARA
hi, just looking for more whakapapa as I can’t go back any further than my great grandparents. Am from up north, Ngapuhi, Puketapu, Te Kotahitanga. My grandfather apparently changed our last name from Waraki Para to just Wara. His parents were Eru Waraki Para and Louisa/ Ruiha Te Hara.
Any information you have regarding all of these names would be appreicated. My grandfather grew up in KaiKohe Northland. Email me or just reply (firstname.lastname@example.org)
On NZ Births Deaths and Marriages website is this marriage
|1925/10793||Ruika Watarini||Te Haara||Eruini||Waraki|
if you go to the historical part of NZBDM's and go to the marriage section and type in the registration number as above 10793 it should come up (or search by the names) If you order the printout (its cheaper and has more info than an actual marriage cert) of this cert it should give you the details of their parents.
I found the 1908 and 1919 Electrol Rolls have a Wara Para, Ngapuhi, Ngati Terehu/Ngati Rehu, living at Kaikohe.
There is also a Probate for a Eruini Wara, Kaikohe, retired, for 1976, this index is on Archway which is the NZ Archives website.
hope this helps
