Morete, Heni Te Urupa
My great grandfather was John Lionel Baker known as Jack Baker. In 1885 he had a son with Heni (Jane) Te Urupa Morete. Their son's name was Te Whare Baker who was born in 1885 in Waipiro Bay and killed in action 21 Aug 1915 at Gallipoli Turkey. Jack and Heni were not married. However, after his first wife, Mere Paku Bartlett, died about 1911, he did marry Heni in 1913. I am very interested in Heni's whakapapa, especially who were her parents and her siblings? I do know that Heni's great grandmother, Hikakore was a sister to Paretene Ngata's grandfather, Tipene Ruataupare.

I noticed in Te Whare's army record his last employer was a C J Parker from Gisborne, and Te Whare's last residence before enlisting was Waipiro Bay.
Was wondering if there maybe a family connection between the Parkers and Heni?

Thank you very much, very interesting! Yes Heni Te Urupa Morete died in 1945 aged 83 according to Births Deaths & Marriages NZ, so she would have been born about 1862. Hopefully someone may know if there is a connection between Heni Te Urupa Morete and Heni Morete Parker.
