could anyone tell me if a Maori wedding ceremony in the 1960's were actually legal marriage ceremonies.Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Janice

It depends on what you mean by Maori wedding ceremony, do you mean if, whether they were married on a Marae, or in a Maori church, etc etc, if so it was very legal, they still had to go to the Registering office to sign the documents needed. My parents were married in the 40s and they have their Marriage Certificates, although they were married by by Greatgrandfather who was a Maori Minister
