Ko Waitaha me Katimamoe ka iwi.
Ko Kati Hawea te hapu ariki.
Of course there are other iwi living there now such as Kaitahu and other iwi who came later from the north island but this is the pepeha tuturu.

The other iwi from the north don't hold mana whenua over the area, something that Waitaha and Ngati Mamoe do. So if you have a brazen Tainui person down there saying that they are tangata whenua you have every right to tell them to go jump as that is not their land or ocean.
