(ha ha) I am so sorry but I am an unenlightened Maori in the language; (hey! forgive me; I live overseas!!!) anywho; all I saw were the words: "Ngati Hine" and "Otiria Marae" and you are describing my parents' home town! and the generations of Ngati Hine relatives that had their tangis at Otiria Marae. So, the big question is: umm....what are you saying? (hee hee)

I also have connections to Otiria marae. My whanau lives in Otiria Rd and have done so for the last 40 odd years.I agree with Elsie and Sunny that Moerewa is tops with its Tuna Cafe which is part of Te Puna i Keteriki..a group of Maori owned businesses in Main Rd. Although it was close to the northern end of the Otiria road it was the only house onthat side and the nearest to the marae. It was later owned by the Wyniard family is now demolished and replaced.
