Ngati Kuri ki Te Hapua & Ngati Kuri ki Ngataki as you have the enviable use of two marae... when you call a hui a iwi do you think the usual protocol of meeting at the marae should be adhered to or the convenience of meeting in the 'office' or some other venue??

It is always a good idea and much better wairua to follow the traditions of our tupuna who when possible... opened the doors for all to whakarongo, korero, tautoko or discuss what mattered to the tribe? Could we all consider and reflect the reason why our whare tupuna is a great place to meet for the benefit of the whole tribe!

Attending our marae gives us also good reason to spend time with our home people and... get an update on what is needed for our Marae, urupas, kaumatua and kuia and our schools.

These are all things that meed attention and should be in our minds whether we are living on our tupuna lands or in other places. We need our marae to come home to in our lifetime for tribal matters and... our marae for people to gather to farewell us from when we pass on. You can't do that in an office...

My fear is not of learning...
but of not learning.

May we all take the time to sit at the feet of our wise ones with an open heart and a listening ear.

Not to stand above them unless it is to shade them from the sun or shelter their back from the wind
