ngati punoke and ngati koura
There are Ngati Punoke back home in Putaruru.
They come down from the ancestor Tuwhakarara who is the common ancestor for all the subtribes in the area. Tuwhakarara descends from Whatihua and Ruaputahanga of Taranaki, and the lines also connect up to Tukorehe and Ngaparetaihinu linking the Mataatua lines of geneaology.
There are also Punoke descendants in Otaki of Ngati Raukawa..we are all one.
