Na, kua rangona e woku taringa pikarikari nga korero i ahu mai ai i te tonga ma teneki tipuna a Tahupotiki, a, e mea ana he matua keke a Tahupotiki ki a Porourangi, ehara i te taina nana.

E hika! Naku ra te pohehe he mangamanga katoa matau no te rakau haemata nei a Nanaia, heoti kua wawahirua ketia teneki totara. Ko ta Ngati Porou e whakapae ana {te nuinga noa atu} he taina a Tahupotiki ki a Porourangi, a, he mokai raua na Nanaia.

Ehara rawa taku i te takahi noa i ta Ngai Tahu, he nanao ke me ki, ki a ratau kia whakamahukihuki mai ai wa ratau korero ma teneki take e mahorahora nei.

You will find in Kai Tahu convention that Porouraki is the nephew of Tahu-potiki because they claim Whatiua-te Ramarama is the father of Porouraki and tuakana of Tahu-potiki.This may be due to the fact that Kai Tahu make a direct link between Tahu and Paikea, whereas Ngati Porou tradition have more generations, between 2 and 4, Porourangi, Tahu and Paikea. Thus Whatiua-teramatrama may have been 'brought' down from an older generation.Whata (_Wata) was siad to be six generations of Pouheni. These people became incorporated with Kai Tahu and came to Te Wahipounamu. But the whakapapa of Whata shows his connections with ancient Toi people.Kati Iraturoto also became part of Kai Tahu.Their lines became mixed with Kurahaupo people through Porangahau's daughter Te We and a line that goes back to Tini-o-Awanuiaraki (Te Kahea). They then married into Kai Tahu.
The most reliable Kai Tahu tohunga was Matiaha Tiramorehu who traced Tahu-potiki and Paikea directly to Uenuku. The antecedant lines of Uenuku go all the way back to Toi and Te Manuwaerorua and become Kahui Tipua-"...Uenuku and Tura were Waitaha back in Patunui-o-Aio..."
The Takitimu people through Iwipupu and others become affiliated with Ngati Porou and Kai Tahu.Ngati Kahungunu and Kai Tahu became closely related. They were obliged to leave the Turanga-nui region of course. Indeed, Ngati Kahungunu are sometimes referred as Kai Tahu. Those who migrated with the Kai Tuhaitara and Kati Kuri hapu of Kai Tahu have also lines back to Kahungunu (no surprises there...).These lines are from Tawhao,Ruatekuri, Rongomaipapa and Tamanuhiri, the son of Rakaihikuroa.Ngati Kahungunu have a lot of Tini-o-Awanuiaraki (Te Kahea),Whatu-mamoa (Kati-mamoe) and some Rangitane ;blood'in their veins.
There are also some Ngati Porou lines that come through as well.It is belived that Tutekawa's maternal line is directly from Porourangi through his off-spring Tauwirioterangi. However, I believe there are some two or so generations missing between Porourangi and Tutekawa's mother Hinetauhara.
