A great mind passes away. Although his physical body let him down and it weakened each passing day. His spirit strenghtened anyone who met Hohepa. He methodically analysed the facts and assessed the details with a fine tooth comb. However never ever did he let written manmade laws take precendent over Maori Tikanga.

As he lived so he gave us hope to believe. Now in his rest he has left us a chasm to cross, but we will keep focused and on track, walking the path and on the side that is right, no matter the obstacles or weaknesses we endure. The truth is the truth.

I do not know mapiria personally but we have meet once at waiomu, thames.

one of those special person who come along
way for our sovereignty maori.

He will be sadly missed.

We visited his grave at the weekend. It's still got a lot of lovely flowers, so nice to know he's at rest in such a beautiful spot...
