He was a private with the Military Settlers stationed at Pukearuhe in the Mokau district in 1865. He deserted his company and lived with Maori in the Mokau district for many years.

Reputed to have had many wives and 25 children. He may have worked at the Wai-ngarongaro coal mines.

We have a tupuna who may have been a daughter - Mariana Coburn/Cockburn/Cobin.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
