Ferris, William (Bill) early 1900's

My great grandfather, Alfred Banks, was swept out at sea, never to be found. This was early 1900's. Years later, my great uncle also passed away. His name was Tawhai Banks. A man by the name of Bill Ferris attended the funeral and told Tawhai's son Richard, that he was Alf Banks' half-brother. We know nothing about where Alf Banks came from so would appreciate making contact with anyone who knows how the Ferris' are related to the Banks'. Denise Haereroa
