Any info. would be greatly appreciated. All I know is her name, and that she is from Waiomio. But I'm not even sure if it is her proper name or just a nick name. She married a Mr Mackie or Maki. They had a son Eruena (Pukekawa) Mackie or Maki abt 1826. He is buried out Whananaki, Northland.

Tena koe heeniwiki,

If you go to www.familysearch.org and put Kawiti in the Lastname, setting the country to New Zealand, you will find a few records there. Maybe by going through tem you will be able to glean a bit more information.

Good Luck

Nau te raurau,
Naku te raurau,
Ka ora ai nga tangata!

If you make contact with Marie Tautari at the Ngati Hine Forest Trust in Whangarei, she may be able to help. Many of the whanau of Ngati Wai descend from Eru Maki, including Marie.
