MAHUTA, Roka aka Ruka Awaiki : Taranaki (Nga Ruahine) 1849 - 1883??
i am looking for any information on my great great grandmother, roka mahuta. she was from nga ruahine...although i have reason to believe she was a descendant of mahuta:tainui and was adopted at a very early age by nga ruahine:taranaki
on meeting my pakeha GG grandfather richard walden, they fled to foxton approx 1867 to marry him and later have 8 children, one being arama walden my great grandfather. roka died in 1883 at approx 34 years of age, and we believe she may have been transported back to taranaki, but we are very unsure of her final resting place. whilst i have strong knowledge of all my other whakapapa this is the ancestor i feel is the most important to me.
