Kiaora Koutou, I am trying to find the names of my great great grandmothers parents. Her name was Kataraina Pita and she was born in Takahue, Kaitaia. She married Samuel Yates and they had my great grandmother Martha Yates who then married Frank Morey. I am also a little confused about the connections between the Murray and the Pita Whanau of Takahue. If you know anything then I would love to hear from you, Kiaora, Varnya

Tena Koe Varnya,

I have one of Samuel and Kataraina's daughter, Raiha [a.k.a. Mihi] Elizabeth Yates married Pari Te Kooti Hohaia from Waimate North. Raiha is interred at the Waimate North Mission Station Cemetery. This is the Court whanau from Waimate North. Pari Te Kooti Hohaia and my grandfather were first cousins. Pari's father, Te Kooti Hohaia and my great grandmother, Ria Hohaia were brother and sister from the Hohaia whanau.
I have Kataraina Yates D.O.D at 1918.
Sam Yates was also known as Hami Ieti.
Will keep you posted if I find and info on Martha's tupuna.
