Kia ora,

Looking for any information on Paora KAMITI (also known as Paul) and his wife Rebecca  (also known as Ripeka) (?) who I do not have a maiden name for.

They are the parents of Reihana PAORA, who married Mata HARE MATENGA 17 March 1863.

Paora died when Reihana was young - I am picking between 1833 and 1840.

Any info you can share would be most appreciated 🙂

This is an update for the KAMITI whanau names I have found in case someone searches for this info and can help tie it all up, or looks for this info in years to come 🙂

The = is for married

Paul KAMITI and Rebecca also had a daughter Caroline KAMITI about 1838

Ripeka remarried in 27 May 1856 to Hohepa WHATA

Nopera KAMITI  = Mere (have not got a last name)
They had
- Herewinin KAMITI (born about 1851) = Hera Te Huru
- Ani KAMITI
- Hemi KAMITI
- Pita KAMITI

Paora KAMITI (not the same one from the original post) = Meri (have not got a last name)
they had
- Keta KAMITI

Heni KAMITI - adult in 1850's

Kamiti (first name only) married Mere WHAKAHURI 15 June 1859

Mere KAMITI had Kaio (1850's)

Hare Rewiti KAMITI = Emeri
The had
- Ani 1855
- Kararaina 1857
- Te Kerehama
- Te Wiremu

Then I found these entries which may be for the same couple above but with a different surname
Haere Rewiti HUKATERE = Emeri
They had
- Reihana 1853
- Maraia

I think Emeri is Emeri Hare Matenga IKAROA (1838 - 1917).  I did find a marriage record for Hare REWITI and Emiri IKAROA 19 Jan 1853.

I also read that Hare Rewiti HUKATERE was a brother in law of Reihana PAORA (who married Mata Haere Matenga IKAROA) so that would tie in as Emeri and Mata are sisters.

Thomas KAMITI 1910 - school record from Taupiri

I am not sure how any of these whanau groups I have posted tie in together, but if you know korero mai! 😀
