Kia Ora. Does anyone know of any descendants of Charles & his wife Ngatahe Tuirirangi Kahukoti who married in 1929? They may have lived in the Waikato rohe.
We are trying to collate the whakapapa of Thomas Maxwell, we think Charles may be descended from one of his sons.

Kia ora. I saw this small excerpt and thought it might interest you.

Maori Land Court Minute Books Otorohanga Book 1 Page 208 7th July 1886.

1st Sept 1886 Page 246 Anaru Maxiwhara (Andrew Maxwell) lived at Kawhia, a place called Maketu, I was born there. I am aquainted with many of the Europeans at Kawhia. I remember Capt Kent, Te Rangitera, Kauae, Tamete, they were the first settlers and lived at Maketu. Mrs Cowell and Paraone who lived at Pouwewe.
Nga mihi

Thanks for that, I didn't know he lived there! He was the youngest son of Thomas Maxwell & Ngeungeu of Ngai Tai, I was a tohunga ta moko.

Have you read "From Kent To Kawhia"? I have it somewhere if you're interested, I originally got it from Pukeariki Library in New Plymouth.

In one of the above links u will find that Ngeungeu remarried to James Moncur (a friend of Thomas)after Thomas drowned in 1842 and they had a daughter Raiha and moved to Kawhia.

I have found most of Thomas's grandchildren but there is so far not a Charles.
