Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone might have some information that could help me. My Great Great Grandfather, Edward Nicholson was born around the year 1859 in Auckland, New Zealand. He eventually came across to Western Australia and married my Great Great Grandmother, Agnes Elizabeth Neale (nee McCarthy) in 1897. On the marriage certificate Edward listed his parents as William Nicholson (sailor) and Alice McCarthy. He was also listed as a widower. As yet I have not found his birth certificate.

They named one of their children Patrick Rees Nicholson and after searching through Ancestry for people named 'Rees Nicholson' born in New Zealand I came across the Chapman-Osbiston family tree which also had listed an Edward Nicholson born in 1859 in Auckland.

The parents listed were William Thomas Nicholson (born in Wales in 1801 and died in Takapuna in 1897) and Ellen Te Hemopo Deacon (1822-1870). I'm not 100% sure if this is my family but I've been in contact with a descendant (not the owner of this tree) and the information she's provided all seems to fit. There's no hard evidence though so at the moment it's all speculation but any information about the family would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jessica
