Kia ora, I'm looking for information on Himiona Tangata and his first wife Ngarahuihui. They had a son called Renata Tangata and he had a daughter called Mereana Tangata. After Ngarahuihui died he remarried Hopia Tiratahi. Any information on tupuna further back, iwi, hapu, marae and so on for either or both Himiona and Ngarahuihui would be greatly appreciated. I am contactable via replying to this forum topic.

Nga mihi,

Jsrikys

Kia ora,

Here is a link that gives information of Himiona Tangata (he was a signatory of the Treaty of Waitangi)

On that page is also a link to an article called Two firsts for the Tangata whanau which has alot of information on that page of all the people you mentioned in this post and is very interesting reading!

There are names in there of descendants so you may be able to contact them for more information.  They would be able to tell you the  iwi, hapu, marae for Himona and Ngarahuihui - I am guessing that Ngarahuihui is Te Rarawa.

If you live around the Kaitaia area a visit to the archives there would most likely be a treasure trove of information.

Good luck and happy searching!

Nau te raurau,
Naku te raurau,
Ka ora ai nga tangata!
