Hello i hope this helps,
Tene Waitere was a carver born Mangamuka, his Mother is Ani Pape(a daughter of Te Rahui,a Ngati Tarawhai Leader), As a young girl she was captured as a northland slave and forced to marry Waitere. When Tene was young his Uncle brought him and his elder sister Mereana Waitere and his mother back to Ruato,on Lake Rotoiti. He married Ruihi Te Ngahue,( of Tuhourangi) and they had one child a daughter Tuhipo. Tene sister Mereana had a son Neke Kapua ( a carver)...I might be able to track Tene Waitere's father,,let you know soon,,but my ancestors are Ngati Te Wehi,,Ngati Mahuta.;)
