Nga Mihi e hoa, go to the Ngati Kuri Trust Board Website where David will help you out with some whanau names, Normans being the ones that spring readily to mind. Tipene Whakaruru is the central tombstone in Maritu, the Urupa there. You will glean a lot from a visit.

Kia ora snapper_lips 🙂

Tipene Whakaruru is the father of Waitai Tipene (who the Waitai whanau are descended from) as well as Herewini Tipene who the Herewini whanau of Te Hapua are descended from) - there are also other children of Tipene Whakaruru where other whanau come from.

@ Dorothy - aroha mai - I think you have 2 2 many greats! If I read correctly Titi Waitai is your grandfather and Tipene Whakaruru is his grandfather so you would be the great great granddaughter 😀

@ Dorothy

Tipene Whakaruru is my great great grandfather (and not extra greats for me!) as one of his daughters married the first born son of Te Rau Karora (through his first wife) and that is where my lines come in so when I saw that someone was the great, great, great, great grand daughter I was interested to see who this mokopuna was - only to find that this is not a mokopuna to me but a cousin! Kia ora e te whanaunga!

And I am not surprised you laughed - so did I but refrained from making any cheeky comments 😀
