Nans name was Erena Kaunga Tuhura Ferris named after a woman believed to be her grandmother Erena Kaunga Tuhura. She was from Gisborne area. I would like to find out about the Tuhura whanau. There is an Erena Tuhura listed on paperspast website linking with land in Gisborne area. But I really know very little about this person other than she lived around 1893.

The tuhura's are from Ruatoria. You also have family with the Haenga line. I have a friend on facebook who is from the coast and could tell you a little more about the tuhura whanau. Her name is Lorainne Haenga pere, if you find her online on facebook she'll help you otherwise another lady Davinia tuhura is another she is on facebook and bebo and also Roberta tuhura who is also on facebook. hope this helps?
