Kia ora I am doing a search on my great grandfather whose name was Paora Wharerarauhe. He moved to taranaki and married my great grandmother Mary Annie Thompson (Tamihana). The pakeha could not pronounce his name and it changed from Wharerarauhe to Hari then to Harris. In New Plymouth he was know as Tommy/Thomas Harris. My grandfather was William David (Toka) Harris.
I have a couple of photo's of the tipuna. Any information would be great.
Nga mihi, Debbie Tipiwai

Kia ora!

Take a look at https://www.familysearch.org/search/tree/results?count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3AMary~%20%2Bsurname%3ATamihana~%20%2Bany_place%3Ataranaki~ - I am not too sure if this Mary Thompson is who you are looking for.

You can then change the names in the search box on the left but keep the country set to New Zealand - although as Thompson is a common name in this case I set the place to Taranaki. Sometimes it is better to search for just a surname as you never know who you will find.

NOTE: Not all of the info in that site is accurate but it is a good place to start.

Good luck!! 🙂
