Tena koe Corey, there was a Rangatira called Pakura who used to live at Hurimoana Pa (Te Tai Rawhiti) He belonged to Te Whanau a Rerewa, which has links to Ngai Tuiti Matua and Te Whanau a Tuwhakairiora of Ngati Porou. Pakura ka moe i a Moahiraia, ka puta ki waho ko Mokena Kohere,(he tangata rongonui ano). Te Whanau a Rerewa became known as Ngati Hokopu after Pakura's nephew Tuawhiorangi was sold by Te Whanau a Apanui for a gun, following the battle at Wharekura where Pakura was killed. Very interesting. Enoho ra, Maaui.
