I have an Uncle who was born in Jan 1923 His father was working at the Moerewa freezing works at the time.

On a note from my Uncle’s brother, it says that my Uncle’s place of birth was Tereawatea Kawiti in Teahuahumangu House.

Could this be Tere Awatea Marae, near Kawiti (township)? Or is there a place named Tereawatea, near Kawiti?

Could Te Ahuahu Mangu be the name of a person perhaps, and my Uncle may have been born in his/her house?

Any useful suggestions/help will be gratefully accepted.

Kia ora te phantom!

I would hazard a guess that you would be right and Tereawatea Kawit would be Tere Awatea Marae, near Kawiti.

Do you know any of the Mangu whanau - they would be the best ones to find out if Te Ahuahu Mangu is the name of a person.

Good luck! 🙂
