[quote]Kia ora,

For the past few years now I have been trying to find the missing link to my grandfathers birth mother whose name as we know it was Haereiti Mateono but she may have also been known as Matekino. She may have been the eldest daughter of Te Wharengori Hakopa Mateono of Whatawhata and Arapera or Hemo Kepa/Keepa of Kaipara Flats. She had about 7 sisters and 1 brother whose names were Te Arani, Mangu, Rihi, Reti, Te Hinu/Rewa, Pukei, Roti and Taikehu Mateono.

My grandfather and his sisters were the result of a second union with my great grand-father Puru Rapata or Rapata Puru of Pukemoremore, Waikato. My grandfathers sisters are Tira, Heeni/Rosie and Hemo/Bessie. My grandfather is Mateono Rapata Puru also known as "Jackie Bush". His whangai parents were Te Ngahere Jerry and Te Awhina Pani Bush affectionately known as "Nanny Maggie".

My whanau and I would appreciate any positive feedback or information you may have with regards to my great grand-mother Haereiti and we hope that we can establish links with whanau we've either never met or haven't seen in a very long time.

I know of Hiringa Mateono. Also know the name Hakopa Te Wharengori. My nephew is an absolute matatau in whatawhata whakapapa, actually of all Ngati Mahanga for that matter. I may even have something on my computer. Let me know if you are still looking.

Mauri ora. 🙂

Kiaora,

Your nana Haereiti Mateono was sister to my g-grandmother Maungatapu (Maungu) Mateono Hakopa. Yes Haereiti was the oldest - born about 1889. Really most of the whanau have taken on the Hakopa (Jacobs) surname. Anyway, private message me if you'd like to share whakapapa. I'm searching nana's lines too.

Na te wa, Adele:)

Teena koe e taku whaea!

Te Wharengori (Hakopa) begat Te Rangikaumoana and others... and he begat the tupuna named above 🙂 Haereiti, taikehu and others...
